Marina Cabin
The recently renovated waterfront Cabin at Eagle Harbor Marina, executed by 2atara, skillfully transforms a once-deteriorating boat house into an inviting retreat perched right at the water’s edge. Previously in disrepair and facing numerous challenges from years of vacancy, this 350-square-foot cabin has undergone a remarkable revitalization. The property also features a historic seafood cannery, further enhancing its rich maritime heritage and context.
Maintaining the original floors with their charming mismatched colors and timbers, along with historic windows, the renovation honors the cabin’s roots while incorporating modern amenities. A loft and ships ladder optimize vertical space, complemented by a mini-split heat pump and spray foam insulation for energy efficiency and elevated ceilings.
Situated across from downtown Winslow and the ferry terminal, the cabin boasts stunning marina views, enhanced by some new historic windows sourced from a Seattle recycling center. Unique lighting fixtures from the local rotary auction add character, while the outdoor deck features sections repaired with marine netting, reinforcing the coastal theme. With cantilevered butcher block bunk beds inspired by sailboat design, this project showcases 2atara’s expertise in resourceful renovation, breathing new life into a treasured waterfront gem.
